Ajith Kumar - Biography and Motorsport Racing Career
Ajith Kumar is a Tamil actor, born on 1st May 1971 in Hyderabad (India). He mainly works in Tamil cinema. Nicknamed Thala (the leader), he is also a racer and has participated in numerous circuits in India and abroad.
He started his career with a small role in the 1990 Tamil film "En Veedu En Kanavar". His first leading role was in the film "Amaravathi" in 1993 and then his Telugu debut "Prema Pustagam".
His acclaimed first major appearance was in the romantic thriller "Aasai" (1995). His romantic films like "Vaanmathi" (1996) "Kadhal Kottai" (1996), "Kadhal Mannan" (1998) and "Aval Varuvala" (1998) have been commercial successes.
Subsequently, he received praise for his acting with "Vaali" (1999), "Amarkalam" (1999), "Mugavaree" (2000), "Citizen" (2001), "Poovellam Un Vasam" (2001), "Villain" (2002) "Varalaru" (2006), "Billa" (2007), "Mankatha" (2011) and "Yennai Arindhaal" (2015).
He established himself as an action hero from his 25th movie "Amarkalam", in which he co-starred with his future wife, Shalini.
Biography
Ajit was born in the city of Secunderabad. He is the middle child in the family, both brothers live in the United States, had twin sisters who died at birth. As a child, he could not speak Tamil, he spoke Tamil after starting his career. He dropped out of Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School in 1986 and was a fan of MG Ramachandran as a kid, but as a teenager he was a fan of Rajinikant and Kamal Hasan. At the age of 18, Ajit had to take a job to support his racing career. After joining the apprentice, he became a merchant with a clothing exporting company, doing advertising. He invested a lot of money in racing and borrowed tires from his friends who once helped when the chains worn out as there was no money in racing at the time. After the accident, several business agencies offered him to model in print media. He had to make a choice between movies and races, and since films were happening and generating money for him, he began to concentrate on it. In 1990 he made his debut in the film "En Veedu En Kanavar", where he played a cameo role.
In 1992 he made his debut in the low-budget Telugu film "Prema Pustakam", which became the only Telugu film to date. In the same year he made his Tamil screen debut in the film "Amaravathi", where he co-starred with actress Sanghavi, the film was a commercial success. After the release of the film and during the training time amateur racing Ajit suffered a fall, hurt his back and had three major operations, with the result that gave him bed rest for one and a half years.

After a one-off race in the 2002 Formula Maruti Championship where he finished fourth, Ajit signed with manager Akbar Ebrahim confirming his participation in the first Formula BMW Asia Championship.
