Divya Bharti (14 February 1974β5 April 1993) was an actress in Hindi films whose acting diversity gave her the distinction of being "the most striking young actress of her generation". Divya, who started her career since the 90s, has acted in a variety of commercially successful films. Apart from Hindi films, she has received positive response from audiences in South Indian cinema. Bharti started her career with Tamil and Telugu films. Apart from acting, Bharti had an impressive personality figure.
Bharti made her acting debut in the Telugu film "Bobbili Raja" in 1990. In early times, Bharati was given roles of lesser importance. She got success in the film journey from the Hindi film Vishwatma. The song "Saat Samundar Paar" from this film gave her a distinct identity. By 1992, Bharti had established herself as a successful heroine in Bollywood. Other films were "Shola Aur Shabnam", a theatrical film depicting Bharti playing the role of the fearless girl. Bharti's performance in the 1992 love affair "Deewana" earned her the Filmfare Best Debut Actress Award. By the middle of 1992β1993, Bharti made fourteen Hindi and seven South Indian films at the age of just 19. In addition to mainstream cinema during her short career Bharti produced a powerful acting. Her last completed films were "Rang", co-starring Kamal Sadanah and "Shatranj", co-starring Jackie Shroff, released after the mysterious death of Bharti on 5 April 1993.
Although Bharti faced many demise throughout her career, she found herself and managed to make herself a breakthrough in Bollywood. Her mysterious death in 1993 also ended her career.
Divya's name and religion was changed to Shana Nadiadwala after Nikah from Shajid Nadiadwala.
Biography
Divya was born in Bombay into the family of an insurance agent Oma Prakash and his wife Mita. She had a younger brother and half-sister Kunal Punam, from the first marriage of her father. Her cousin Kainat Arora also became an actress.
Divya was in high school named Maneski Cooper in Juhu area and completed the ninth grade before the beginning of a career.
In 1988, Divya was spotted by director Nanda Tolani, who asked her to star in one of his films. Initially, it should debut in the film "Gunahon Ka Devta" with the popular actor of the 1980s, Mithun Chakraborty, but proposed to her character deleted from the script. Then Kirti Kumar noticed it in the video library, and encouraged her to sign a contract for the film "Radha Ka Sangam", along with the novice actor Govinda. A few weeks later, Kumar met with Dilip Shankar to release her from her contract. However, after several months of attending acting and dance classes, she was excluded from the project and replaced by Juhi Chawla.
After unsuccessful attempts in Bollywood, Divya decided to try her luck in regional cinema, namely in Tollywood. After meeting with the local film producer D. Ramanaydu in 1990 she made her debut in the film "Bobbili Raja", where she played with the then popular in the state of actor Venkatesh, and the film was a great commercial success. In the same year, she co-starred with actor Anand in the Tamil language film "Nila Penne", which flopped at the box office and became her only film in Tamil. A year later, two films were released, where she starred in tandem with the popular actor Chiranjeevi Rowdy Alludu and Assembly Rowdy. Divya Bharati was one of the most popular and highly paid actresses in Tollywood in the early 1990s.
In 1992, after her success in Telugu cinematography, she decided to make another attempt in Bollywood, starring in the film "Vishwatma", paired with Sunny Deol. The film received the status of "average" and a positive assessment among the audience, and the song "Saat Samundar" became its trademark. A week later came the film "Dil Ka Kya Kasoor" with actor Prithvi, which failed at the box office the film was released in March of that year, "Shola Aur Shabnam", where she played together with Govinda, earned a commercial success and critical acclaim.
In the same year, Divya played a girl who falls in love first with a singer, then with a young rich boy in the film "Deewana", which became the debut for the actor Shahrukh Khan. Divya film earned only award Filmfare in the category "Best Newcomer".
Having achieved success in Bollywood, Divya decided to star in one Telugu film in a year so as not to disappoint the Telugu-speaking audience. So in 1992 it was "Chittemma Mogudu", where she again played with Mohan Babu. In the same month, the film "Dil Hi To Hai" was released, where she first starred with then popular actor Jackie Shroff. Divya died on April 5, 1993, falling out of the window of the 5th floor of her apartment. She was 19 years old.
The two completed films "Rang" and "Shatranj" were released after her death. And the Telugu-language "Tholi Muddhu" was filmed with the participation of the actress Rambha, who looked like Divya. Also at the time of her death with her participation was filmed more than half of the scenes of the film "Laadla", which were then re-filmed with Sridevi. Family and early life
Bharti's childhood was spent in Mumbai city. She was the eldest child of her father Omprakash Bharti, an insurance officer. Her mother's name was Mita Bharti. Mita was the second wife of Omprakash Bharti. Divya got her early education at Manekji Copper High School. Divya was a medium level student in education from the beginning.
