Sridevi - The Most Beautiful Actress in India

Sridevi (born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, 13 of August of 1963 - 24 of February of 2018) was an actress and film producer who worked on Indian films in languages Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. She is considered one of the most successful actors of Indian cinema of the 80s of the 20th century.

She began acting at the age of four, making her Bollywood debut in the 1975 film Julie. She played her first adult character in the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu. She became one of the most successful actresses of the 1980s and early 1990s, left the industry in 1997 to raise her daughters. During her career she won five Filmfare Awards.

Career

Sridevi began her career as a child actress in the 1967 Tamil film Kandan Karunai, in the role of the young Lord Muruga, and acted in many films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malabar thereafter.

Sridevi started her career in childhood, starring in South Indian regional films before taking on heroine roles in Bollywood films. In her early years she collaborated 19 times with Jeentendra.

In 1976, Sridevi landed her first starring role in Moondru Mudichu, directed by K. Balachander, where she starred alongside rising stars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. She then acted in a series of films with Haasan and Rajnikanth again. With the former, she acted in films such as Guru, Sankarlal, Sigappu Rojakkal, Thaayillamal Naan Illai, Meendum Kokila, Vazhvey Maayam, Varumayin Niram Sivappu, Neela Malargal, Moondram Piraí and 16 Vayathinile. With Rajnikanth she appeared in such films as Gayathri, Dharma Yuddham, Priya, Johnny, Ranuva Veeran, Pokkiri Raja, Thanikattu Raja, Adutha Varisu, and Naan Adimai Illai.

Some of her biggest successes include Nagina, Mr. India, Chaalbaaz and Chandni, films written especially for her. She reached the peak of her career with the film Lamhe directed by Yash Chopra. Sridevi served on the board of the Asian Academy of Film and Television.

Simultaneously, Sridevi began acting in Telugu films, many of them directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. With NT Rama Rao she acted in films such as Konda Veeti Simham, Vetagadu, Sardar Paparayudu and Bobbili Puli. With A. Nageswara Rao she performed in Mudulla Koduku, Premabhishekham, Bangaru Kanku and Premakanuka. With Krishna, she participated in Kanchu Kagada, Kalavari Samsaram, Krishnavatharam, Burripalem Bolludu, and Khaidi Rudrayya.

The Indian government has awarded her with the Padma Shri.

Family and personal life

Sridevi was born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan Rajeswari on August 13, 1963 in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. Her father was a lawyer. She has a sister and two stepbrothers. She married Boney Kapoor, a film producer and the older brother of actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, in 1996. They had two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi (Krishna). Her mother tongue was Tamil.

Death

The actress died unexpectedly from an accidental drowning in the hotel where she was staying to attend a wedding, on 24 February 2018.
