Excite Bike Video Game
Excitebike is a game of racing on motocross created by Nintendo. It debuted as a game for the Famicom in Japan in 1984 at a price of 5,000 yen. It was the first game in the Excite saga, succeeded by Excitebike 64 and its spiritual successors, Excite Truck and Excitebots.
Game mode
The player chooses to run alone or against console-driven bikers, user also competes against a certain time limit. The goal is to qualify for the Excitebike championship being among the top three in the race. The time to beat is displayed on the walls of the stadium (to be in first place) and in the lower left corner of the screen (to be in third place). In any race the best time is 8 seconds above the third place. When the player manages to be first, the message is displayed: "It's a new record!".
The player controls the position of the motorcycle with the Y-axis of the direction cross, and the acceleration with the buttons A and B. The button B causes improved acceleration, but causes the temperature of the motorcycle to increase. If the temperature exceeds the safety limit (the bar fills up), the bike will stop for several seconds until it cools down. If the bike passes over an arrow, it automatically cools down.
While the motorcycle is in the air during jumps, its inclination can be modified with the X axis of the steering cross, pressing left raises the front part, while pressing right lowers it. Pressing up and down we turn the handlebars of the motorcycle up and down respectively, when the motorcycle is on the ground.
The player, at the beginning of the game, can choose which track player wants to compete in, from 1 to 5.
Track times
Finishing third or better in any challenge mode race, the player advances to Excitebike mode races with the same track number. For example, if the player finishes third or better on track 4 of challenge mode, player will go to track 4 of Excitebike mode. Here are the best times on challenge mode tracks:
- Track 1: 1:06:00
- Track 2: 1:16:00
- Track 3: 1:16:00
- Track 4: 1:12:00
- Track 5: 1:06:00
Finishing third or better in any Excitebike mode race, the player advances to the next race in this same mode. For example, if the player finishes third or better on track 4 of an Excitebike race, they will go to track 5 of ExciteBike mode. Racing in Excitebike mode is a little more difficult than racing in Challenge mode, so the fastest times in Excitebike mode are higher than in Challenge mode (except on tracks 3 and 5). These are the best times on the tracks of Excitebike mode:
- Track 1: 1:24:00
- Track 2: 1:22:00
- Track 3: 1:10:00
- Track 4: 1:20:00
- Track 5: 1:06:00
If the player finishes third or better on track 5 of Excitebike mode then they can compete on it over and over again. The number of times he has run on the track is indicated in the lower right corner with "T = (number of times)", just below the player's time.
Track 5 is considered the most difficult of all races, especially if you are trying to achieve first place, particularly in Excitebike mode, since the fastest time is the same as in challenge mode.
Excitebike: Bun Bun Mario Battle Stadium
Excitebike: Bun Bun Mario Battle Stadium (Also known as Mario Excite Bike, BX Mario Excite Bike, And Excite Bike 2) is a video game for the Satellaview game (only available in Japan). Unlike the original Excitebike, Human Racers have been replaced by Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, Toad, Yoshi, and Koopa Troopa. The concept of the game remained unchanged except for a "super" the way the player has unlimited turbo, as well as the addition of coins. The coins are spread out on the tracks and increase the maximum speed.
Excitebike: World Rally It is the last known game in the saga, which comes out for the nintendo wii console and retains that retro touch but with 7th generation console features such as online gaming.
