Incredibles 2

Incredibles 2 is an American computer animation film of Pixar Animation Studios, which appeared in the summer of 2018 in the US cinemas. Theatrical release in Germany was September 27, 2018. The film continues the plot of 2004 The Incredibles. Directed by Brad Bird of the first part.

Plot

The film ties directly to the open end of the first film as an anthropomorphic mole called "The Tunnel Tomb" threatens the city and the Parr family faces it. They stop him, but this causes damage in the city. The program that financially supports superheroes is being discontinued.

Helen and Bob Parr have to go to a hotel room. A fan of superheroes offers him to house them when Helen (as Elastigirl) fights crime again. Meanwhile, Bob (aka Mr. Incredible) stays at home, trying to help his kids Violetta and Flash in their everyday lives and spotting Jack-Jack's hitherto hidden superpowers. Jack-Jack has various super powers.

Although Helen can grab a rogue, she realizes that her sister is behind it. Helen is turned over with the help of hypnosis. This also succeeds with Bob and the superhero Frozone.

Violetta and Flash try to save their parents. Of course they have to take Jack-Jack with them.

Production

Since the previous part ended with a cliffhanger, speculations were in the room, whether there would be a sequel to the film. In 2007, director Brad Bird finally announced that he was interested in a sequel and already had elements in his head that he had yet to merge. In May 2013, Bird reiterated interest in a sequel, but said it still needed time. 10 months later, in March 2014 was The Incredibles 2 confirmed by Bird as director and screenwriter. As of April 2015 Bird wrote the screenplay. Disney had originally announced the film for June 21, 2019, the launch date of The Incredibles 2 was later changed to the launch date of Toy Story 4 as the production of the superhero movie progressed faster than expected.

On the Disney's D23 panel in July 2017, Bird said that the focus of the film would be on the character Elastigirl alias Helen Parr and build directly on the previous film. In November 2016 it was announced that Holly Hunter again the voice of Elastigirl would synchronize the original. The following month, the return of the voice was Samuel L. Jackson as Lucius announced. In July 2017 followed on the D23, the disclosures of Craig T. Nelson in his role as Mr. Incredible aka Bob Parr and Sarah Vowellas his and Helen's daughter Violet Parr. The voice of Violetta's brother Robert Flash, who spoke in the previous film Spencer Fox, was replaced by Huck Milner, because Fox could not take over the role because of his vocal break. Director Bird takes over again the synchronization of the minor character Edna "E" Mode while John Ratzenberger is heard again as a tunnel digger.

In November 2017, the first teaser trailer for the film was released. In Germany, the launch date for September 27 2018 announced. The world premiere of the film took place on June 5, 2018 in Los Angeles.

A German audio book to the film is to appear on 20 August 2018 at the Hörverlag. The translation was done by Claudia Amor and the reading Markus Maria Profitlich, who dubbed Bob Parr in the German version in both films.

Gross result

The theatrical release for The Incredibles 2 was very successful in the United States. With over 182 million US dollars, the film made the hitherto most successful launch weekend of an animated film ever. The previous record holder was Findet Dorie with 135 million US dollars. The revenues of the film within the United States are currently at 608.58 million US dollars. Worldwide, the film has recorded $1,242.81 million so far. Thus, it is currently in 4th place of the most successful films of the year 2018 and number 16 (as of May 5, 2019) the most financially successful films of all time, In the German cinemas, the film recorded 2,193,076 viewers, which it was able to bring in 17.95 million euros and is ranked 10th in the annual charts 2018.
